Located in Mercerville, NJ, Princeton Optronics is a privately held, venture funded company engaged primarily in the development and manufacture of high power vertical cavity surface emitting diode lasers (VCSELs), diode pumped solid state lasers and low noise diode pumped ultrastable lasers. Princeton Optronics was founded in 1993 and has since been working in various cutting edge technology areas including low noise diode pumped solid state lasers, VCSELs and other high power diode laser products, mostly with Venture Capital and DoD funding. Princeton Optronics is located in a 30,000 square ft facility (shown in figure in this page and where it moved in 2001), which has over 1000 square ft clean room for device fabrication and 10,000 square ft of optical manufacturing facility. We also have a fully equipped reliability and qualification facility for its products many of which are used for US military applications.

Breakthrough research in Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Diode Lasers, low noise diode pumped ultrastable lasers and other diode pumped solid state lasers, an outgrowth of DOD sponsored research, prompted the company to seek venture funding to focus on the market demand for optical components and sub-systems. The company has strong financial backing from leading venture investors to accelerate its commercial development process. These investors include Novak Biddle Venture Partners and Technology Venture Partners.

  • Princeton Optronics is the world leader in the technology of high power VCSEL diode lasers. Have demonstrated single devices with 5W of output power and small arrays of 230W from a 5x5mm chip with a peak wall plug efficiency of 56%. Also has demonstrated high power and high brightness operation of the arrays. It has announced a product line of high power VCSEL devices and VCSEL arrays, single mode VCSELs, frequency doubled blue laser, and seed lasers for fiber lasers. Princeton Optronics was a participant of the DARPA SHEDS program for efficiency improvement of the VCSELs.

  • Princeton Optronics has world's lowest noise and highest stability lasers. They have a patented technology for RIN noise reduction by 50dB. They have the highest stability lasers with a unique locker technology (patent pending) delivering 5kHz long term stability. The line width of the lasers is in the range of <1kHz. It was a participant in the DARPA PHOR-FRONT program for lowering the noise of lasers with diode pumped solid state laser approach.

  • Princeton Optronics is developing various types of diode pumped laser modules which include high energy Q-Switched lasers, frequency doubled blue lasers, UV lasers and various other kinds of lasers for material processing and medical applications.

  • Princeton Optronics has developed high power modules of VCSELs which are used for pumps and for illumination applications.
